Grow a Garden 2 Mutations

TL;DR

Grow a Garden 2 has 8 mutations. Two are growth mutations (Gold and Rainbow) and are mutually exclusive — a crop can only have one. The rest are mostly environmental mutations triggered by weather, and those stack additively. The best money-makers are Rainbow (growth) and high-value environmental hits like Electric and Bloodlit.

The table below lists all 8 mutations with their value multipliers. Because GAG2 launched on June 12, 2026, these numbers are still being community-fitted from sale samples, and sources disagree. The Primary mult column uses the empirically fitted values; the Alt mult column shows what other sources report. Treat both as provisional ranges, not exact figures, until a balance patch confirms them.

A few notes on the table: Gold and Rainbow are the only growth mutations and they cannot both be on one crop. Electric shows as "Electric" on the fruit but the Lightning prompt calls the hit "Shocked" — same thing. Bloodlit and Chained are currently Fandom-only entries with unconfirmed triggers, and Green Apple is a cosmetic apple variant worth the same as a normal apple (no value bonus).

How stacking works

The GAG2 value formula:

FinalValue = BaseValue × (Weight / BaseWeight)² × GrowthMult × (1 + ΣEnvMutations − N) × FriendBonus
  • Growth mutation (Gold or Rainbow) is a single multiplier — mutually exclusive.
  • Environmental mutations stack additively inside (1 + ΣEnv − N), where N = number applied.
  • Weight scales value quadratically. FriendBonus = 1 + 0.1 × friends nearby.

The key thing players get wrong on Reddit: environmental mutations do not multiply each other. They add up inside one bracket. If you have two environmental mutations with multipliers a and b, the bracket is (1 + a + b − 2), not a × b. The growth mutation (Gold or Rainbow) is the only term that multiplies on top, and weight matters more than almost anything because it is squared.

FAQ

How are mutations counted?

One growth mutation (Gold or Rainbow) multiplies the whole value. Every environmental mutation adds into a single bracket: (1 + ΣEnv − N), where N is how many environmental mutations are applied. Weight is squared on top of all of it.

Do mutations stack additively or multiplicatively?

Both, depending on type. The single growth mutation is multiplicative. Environmental mutations stack additively with each other inside the bracket. They do not multiply each other.

What are the best mutations?

For raw multiplier, Rainbow is the strongest growth mutation, and Electric and Bloodlit top the environmental list. Because values are still community-fitted, the safest read is: prioritize Rainbow over Gold, and chase high-value weather events like Lightning, Starfall, and Blood Moon.

What are the mutation multipliers?

See the table above. Each mutation lists a primary fitted value and alternate values from other sources. They conflict at launch, so use them as ranges.
