TL;DR
There are 5 sprinkler tiers: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Legendary and Super. They speed up plant growth (and from Uncommon up, raise mutation chance) for crops in range while they run. The Super Sprinkler is the best at launch — longest duration, biggest boost. One caveat: the exact growth-speed % and radius are not published at launch, so we describe tiers by their duration and effect rather than inventing numbers.

Higher tiers cost more and run longer. The Common Sprinkler is a ~1-minute starter that boosts growth and fruit size only; the Uncommon, Rare, Legendary and Super tiers add mutation chance and stretch the boost window — Beebom cites roughly 10 minutes for Legendary and 15 for Super, though the in-game numbers aren't officially published.

Which sprinkler is best?
The Super Sprinkler (399 Robux) is the best in the game at launch — it gives the largest growth boost, the highest fruit-size and mutation bump, and the longest duration. It only shows up in the gear shop occasionally. If you can't get one, the Legendary Sprinkler is the next-best with an extended boost window.
When should I buy a sprinkler?
Early. Even the Common Sprinkler (7 Robux / 3,000 Sheckles) pays for itself by speeding up your first crops, so grab one as soon as you can afford it.
